SESSION
DESCRIPTION
The primary purpose of
delegation is to make organizations possible. Just as no single
individual in an organization can do all the tasks necessary
to achieve organizational goals, neither should one person exercise
all the authority for making decisions. The delegation program
is designed to help managers analyze their jobs to determine
what tasks can and should be delegated. It will help managers
determine the appropriate amount of monitoring and control they
should maintain whenever they delegate assignments or projects.
Nine delegation styles are introduced during the session and
a practical "delegation tool" is provided that helps
managers determine which delegation style to use in any given
situation. The practical lesson learned is that too much control
demotivates employees, and too little control is risky. By striking
a balance between too much and too little control, managers will
learn how to empower subordinates. Practical techniques will
be learned during the program and case studies are used to help
reinforce the concepts taught.
